Our Successful Barcamp Bangkok!
January 29th, 2008 Posted in My Life, News
It was three days ago that we had an event named Barcamp Bangkok here in Thailand. Our first Barcamp in Thailand at Indus restaurant on Jan 26, 2008.
That event is such a HUGE success. I heard lots of discussion over there, and also had lots of good conversation on
that date. It seemed to me like everybody was so happy with the event. They enjoyed lots of talk on the topic that they interested in, while missing some of the talk that lied on the same time slot, (sorry guys, I tried my best!) People got together as a group discussed on their interesting topic. They also had great meals, a nice T-shirt that looks awesome, without having to pay any money! What can I say more? This is really the goal of Barcamp and it seems to me that this event reach all of its goals!
I had a role as agenda co-organizer with John and networking staff on that date. I feel a bit sad that I was too busy on that day and didn’t have so many chances to chat. I was expecting to talk and try to make friends with PHP and Rails programmers there. I also wanted to give a talk over some topic that I interested in, but didn’t have a chance to made a presentation and jotting down what to talk. So, I think I really miss much of the stuff in the event, but I wasn’t so sad because everybody was so happy about the event. When everything was going so well like this, I’m happy that I had a role in this event.
I would like to make a apologize for someone that was going to use the internet connection in their presentation on that date when the network was down. I know somebody of you were a bit angry because you thought it should work. It was really my fault that I didn’t set up everything first so that I could just plug it and it would work right away. I also wished that I should kept the networking stuff with me, so I wouldn’t short an access point when I needed. Also, I should look at the configuration twice before making a change, so I wouldn’t mess up the whole network. Please take my sincere apology.
(However, I leaned from this event that Apple Airport Express was so awesome, worth to its price! It could handle that much of the connection and gave a huge range of coverage. I couldn’t believe if I did not have a chance to test one out myself.)
Lastly, I would like to say thanks to all of the organizer of this event. We wouldn’t have this wonderful event here in Thailand if it’s not because of you guys: John, Julie, Sajal, Luke, Kirit, Ben, Hunt, Joy, Sugree, Keng, and Pat. Also I would like to thanks all of the participants (and organizers that I couldn’t think of their names) that helped us to make this event possible. This event surely couldn’t be so success if it wasn’t because of you guys.
Next time, I’ll prepare myself well and I will speak there for sure. If there is a voting again, don’t forget to vote for my topic! Keep in touch with the people that interesting in the same topic as you, and don’t forget to keep checking our website at barcampbangkok.org for more information about the next event!
See you in the next Barcamp soon!
