What did I learned about networking in Barcamp
January 31st, 2008 Posted in Apple, My IdeaIt was my failure on networking during the event of Barcamp Bangkok 2008. I couldn’t get the internet connection to be stable until noon time. So, here’re the things I have learned from it:
- Linksys ADSL router is freaking stable. It could handle that so many concurrent connection without any failure. The DHCP function also working great, didn’t have any problem at all.
- Router that doesn’t say bridge mode on its box might unable to work in bridge mode.
- Apple Airport Extreme router has very wide range of coverage. It also really stable and handle the wifi connection very well. Also, its status LED was helping me to figure it out what went wrong about the network. If I have money, this will be the next router I would get.
- Belkin AP is not stable. Maybe their Q/C wasn’t so good because my unit was freezing when there was too many connection to the AP.
- Good networking require not only good peripherals, but also good cooperation with network users.
